Guard collects nothing.
This policy covers the ChainWatch Guard browser extension, which is coming soon to the Chrome Web Store. It applies from Guard's first release. Last updated 26 September 2026.
In short: ChainWatch Guard has no analytics, no tracking and makes no network requests. Every check runs on your own computer. Nothing you type, paste, copy or sign is sent to ChainWatch or to anyone else, and we have no way to see how you use it.
What Guard looks at, and why
To warn you in time, Guard has to look at things as they happen in your browser:
- Text you paste or type into boxes on web pages. Guard checks it on the spot for a recovery phrase, a private key or a crypto address, then forgets it.
- Addresses you copy in the browser. Guard remembers the last one so it can tell if a different one gets pasted.
- Requests a website sends to your browser wallet (transactions, approvals and signatures). Guard reads each request to explain what it would do, before your wallet shows it.
- The network chosen on a page (for example "TRC20" or "ERC20") beside an address box, to spot an address for the wrong network.
All of this is done inside your browser. None of it leaves your computer.
What Guard keeps on your computer
| ITEM | WHY | HOW LONG / HOW TO CLEAR |
|---|---|---|
| Addresses you have sent to with a browser wallet (up to 500, with the date) | To warn you about lookalike addresses used in "address poisoning" scams | Until you clear it with Clear send history in the Guard menu, or remove Guard |
| Trusted addresses you add yourself, with any name you give them | The same lookalike check, from day one | Until you remove them in the Guard menu, or remove Guard |
| Your check settings (which warnings are on or off) | To remember your choices | Until you change them, or remove Guard |
| The last address you copied in the browser, and when | To spot a clipboard swap | Forgotten automatically when you close the browser |
These are kept in your browser's own extension storage on this computer. Guard doesn't sync them to your Google account or anywhere else.
Guard never stores recovery phrases, private keys, passwords, the contents of web pages, or your browsing history.
Permissions
- Storage: to keep the items in the table above on your computer.
- Access to the sites you visit: Guard must check a page before you type a recovery phrase or approve a transaction, and a scam can be on any website. It uses this access only for the checks described here.
Sharing
We don't collect your data, so we have nothing to sell, share or transfer. ChainWatch Guard's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Links to our website
Warnings and the Guard menu link to guides and help pages on chainwatch.us. Opening one of those links is an ordinary visit to our website. The website (not the extension) uses Plausible Analytics to count page visits without cookies. If you use our case intake or contact forms, what you enter there is handled as described on those pages.
Removing Guard
Removing the extension from your browser deletes everything Guard kept on your computer.
Changes to this policy
If a future version adds a feature that uses the network (for example an optional download of public scam-address lists), we will update this policy before that version is released, and any such feature will be off unless you turn it on.
